A trial date is now scheduled for next year in a suit over a 38-vehicle pile-up during a winter storm on Interstate 35 in north-central Iowa two years ago.

David and Lynda Loeffler of Wisconsin filed the lawsuit against five truckers and their trucking companies, alleging that they were negligent in the accident and blocked the traveled portion of I-35 near Latimer on January 25th of 2010 after one or more of the trucks became involved in a collision and/or obstructed the road.

The accident happened during a blizzard with whiteout conditions.

David Loffler was injured in the accident and is seeking unspecified compensatory damages, court costs and other relief.

51-year-old Craig Johnson of Rochester Minnesota was killed in the incident while more than a dozen others were injured.

The trial by jury is scheduled to begin on July 15th of 2013 in Franklin County District Court.
