An umpire is being treated after an accident at a softball game in northern Iowa today. The high school softball umpire was life flighted to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City after being struck in the head by a warm-up pitch.

Sixty-one year old Jack Hull of Mascon City was struck near his right temple by a warm-up pitch that glanced off the catcher’s glove between innings of a Forest City versus Central Springs freshman softball game around 10:20 this morning. Hull was in an out of consciousness after being hit.

No other information is available on his condition.
