Two from Boone die in accident

June 18, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Boone couple was killed, two other people were injured, in a two-vehicle crash in Boone on Saturday afternoon. The names of the victims are 77-year-old Dorothy Peter and her husband 80-year-old Delbert Peter.

They were the passengers in a 1996 GMC Jimmy pickup driven by 15-year-old Daniel Peter of Ames. Reportedly, the pickup operated by Peter was traveling westbound on Highway 30 when he was changing lanes to make a left hand turn. A 2003 Hummer Limousine driven by 43-year-old John Barker, Junior, of Des Moines came in contact with the Peter pickup.

The pickup then left the roadway where it rolled ejecting one of the passengers. The Barker limousine came to rest in the median. Dorothy Peter was pronounced dead at the accident scene while Delbert Peter was taken by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he died of his injuries.

The injured were 28 -year-old Danielle Snook of Davenport and 24-year-old Loyd Hise of Guthrie Center. They were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
