The city of Dyersville is one step closer to entering into an agreement with the owners of the Field of Dreams property. Go the Distance Baseball wants to build the All Star Ball Park Heaven. The $38 million complex would include 24 baseball and softball diamonds on the Field of Dreams property.

The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs. Dyersville City Attorney Marc Casey explained to city council members that the deal they approved Monday night will serve as a guideline for the next few steps with developers.

“This memorandum of understanding does not commit the city to anything other than continuing this process and working with these people and see if an agreement can be reached under various items that need to be put together to make this whole project,” Casey said.

The next Dyersville Council meeting will be on July second. That’s when the council is expected to vote on annexing the Field of Dreams property.
