Two die in construction zone crash near Holstein

June 19, 2012 By Matt Kelley

Two people were killed in a crash in a construction zone in northwest Iowa Monday. The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. on U.S. Highway 20 a few miles east of Holstein.

The Iowa State Patrol reports two people in a car were waiting for a pilot car to guide them through a single-lane construction zone when a semi ran into the back of their vehicle. The car was pushed into the rear of another semitrailer and started on fire.

Both of the people in the car were killed. Their names have not yet been released.
