Biden continues same economic themes in second day of Iowa campaign stop (audio)

June 27, 2012 By Dar Danielson

Vice President Joe Biden.

Vice President Joe Biden continued with his economic campaign theme today during a speech in Dubuque.

Biden, a Democrat, says presumed Republican presidential  nominee Mitt Romney outsourced jobs while he worked for Bain Capital. Biden says the unemployed in America are in a deep depression, and Romney’s actions haven’t helped.

“So part of the discontent in America is not just those poor people who are in depression, but people who are working. Don’t see any light, don’t see any way it’s going to get any better real soon. And outsourcing, offshoring, what it does is depresses the wages of people who here, working in companies here,” Biden said.

Biden spoke to the Democrat base, touting union workers as the answer to turning around the economy. “I think Governor Romney’s supporters see American labor, I don’t just mean organized labor…see American labor as the problem. We see American workers as the solution, literally,” Biden said.

Romney’s campaign responds that Biden’s comments are misleading and the Obama administration’s record on the economy is a failure.
