Sioux City man dies in accident near Pierson

June 27, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A van versus semi crash in northwest Iowa has claimed the life of a Sioux City man. The Iowa State Patrol reports 40-year-old Paul Mann Junior died Tuesday when his van collided head on with a semi tractor trailer on a county road about a mile south of Pierson just after 7 a.m.

Investigators say Mann was headed north on the roadway when his vehicle veered into the southbound lane and hit the semi head-on. The collision sent both vehicles into a ditch. Mann was killed in the crash.

The semi driver, 55-year-old Charles French of Lawton, was airlifted to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
