Royce White heading to Houston

June 29, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Royce White

Iowa State’s Royce White was taken by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA Draft Thursday. N.B.A. Commissioner David Stern announced the selection of White during ESPN’s telecast of the N.B.A Draft last night.

White becomes the first Cyclone to be taken in the first round since Jamaal Tinsley in 2001. ESPN’s Jay Bilas said that White’s offensive skills will immediately translate to the NBA.

White is the fourth Cyclone to be selected in draft’s top 16 picks in the past 25 seasons. The last was Marcus Fizer, who went fourth overall to the Bulls in 2000.
