One dead in Sioux City house fire

July 5, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

One man is dead after a house fire early this morning in Sioux City. Fire Marshal Mark Aesoph says the fire was reported shortly after two a.m.

“It appears that it started in possibly in a bedroom, that’s kind of what it looks like right now,” Aesoph says. He says there were no other occupants in the house. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The one-story home sustained significant fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is still not known. Aesoph says it’s Sioux City’s first fire related death since January of 2010.
