Magazine survey finds Iowa city not overly vain

July 11, 2012 By Matt Kelley

A new survey finds folks in Iowa’s largest city aren’t too stuck on themselves. Men’s Health magazine ranked 100 American cities for their vanity, based on things like the use of tanning salons, teeth whiteners and Botox. It also looked at per capita rates for plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists.

Des Moines ranked number-100 as the least vain of them all. With us at the bottom of the list are: Kansas City, Fargo and Sioux Falls in the Dakotas, and Lincoln, Nebraska. Up at the top of the list, the magazine singles out Tampa as the country’s most vain city, followed by Plano, Texas, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Dallas.
