Human remains found in central Iowa lake

July 27, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Divers have recovered human remains at Little Wall Lake south of Jewell in central Iowa. Hamilton County Sheriff Dennis Hagenson said his department was notified by a fisherman of the discovery while fishing in the lake Thursday morning.

The remains have been turned over to the state medical examiner for an examination and identification. The dive team also recovered a green Buick with Hamilton County license plates that was discovered inside the waters of Little Wall Lake early Thursday evening.

There is a possibility that the remains could be those of a Hamilton County man, Virgil L. Wilcox, who has been missing for five years. The Iowa Department of Public Safety website stated that Wilcox was reported missing to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department on November 1, 2007.
