Martensdale-St.Marys wins 3rd straight baseball title

Blue Devils’ starter J.D. Nielsen tossed the fourth no-hitter in state finals history and the first in 20 years, as Martensdale-St. Marys defeated Mason City Newman Catholic 1-0 for its third straight 1A state championship at Principal Park on Saturday.

Robbie Anstoetter went 4-for-4 with two RBI to lead Dyersville Beckman to its first state championship since 2000, as the Blazers defeated North Polk 3-1 in the 2A state finals at Principal Park on Saturday.

Tyler Peyton tossed seven shutout innings and went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI from the dish to lift Dallas Center Grimes to its first state championship title, defeating Decorah 13-0 at Principal Park on Saturday.

Keaton McKinney went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Matt Johnson (7-1) pitched six shutout innings to lift Ankeny to its second state championship and first in 20 years, as the Hawks defeated the Fort Dodge Dodgers 10-0 in six innings in the 4A finals at Principal Park on Saturday night.

The Hawks set a state championship game record with 19 hits.
