Romney set to visit Bettendorf business

August 22, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is visiting LeClaire Manufacturing in Bettendorf, one of two plants owned by brothers Ralph and Rob Zimmerman. The company supplies aluminum castings to customers worldwide. The Zimmermans say the Romney campaign phoned on Saturday, looking for a family business to host the rally.

The company co-presidents say they’re honored to do so. But they’re surprised they were asked because they say they haven’t been too heavily involved in politics. The two say they don’t know exactly what to expect. The campaign told them 300 to 2,000 people could show up.

Romney’s last visit to the area was June 18th in Davenport.
