Fort Dodge police investigate possible hate crime

Fort Dodge police are investigating an apparent hate crime. Early Thursday morning, vandals spray-painted a mobile home on the city’s northwest side with racial and graphic statements.

The statements were directed to the owner and residents of the home who are African American. Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody said they are treating the case as a hate and bias crime. He further stated that this is heartbreaking to the victims, the community and for the police.

Carmody urges anyone with information on this incident to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.
