Half as many people arrested at Iowa-UNI game compared to Iowa-ISU

September 17, 2012 By Matt Kelley

There were fewer alcohol-related arrests in and around Kinnick Stadium Saturday compared to the previous weekend in Iowa City.  A report from the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety shows officers wrote 71 citations Saturday as the Iowa Hawkeyes hosted Northern Iowa.

Twenty-seven citations were for public intoxication, 33 for open container and 10 for possession of alcohol under the legal age. An 18-year-old girl and two 19-year-old girls were cited after they were found passed out in Kinnick Stadium restrooms and a total of 11 individuals were transported to jail.

About twice as many alcohol-related citations (140) were handed out the previous Saturday when Iowa hosted Iowa State.
