Pella Corporation looks to new market in India

September 24, 2012 By Matt Kelley

A Pella Corporation window.

Some Iowa factory workers will soon be addressing crates for the opposite side of the planet. Window and door-maker Pella Corporation will sell its products in India for the first time, targeting residential and commercial markets for new construction, remodeling and replacement needs.

Kathy Krafka Harkema, company spokeswoman at the headquarters in Pella, says India holds much promise. “We will provide a variety of types and styles of Pella windows and doors through the independent distributor in India,” Krafka Harkema says. “Certainly, some of those products will be made here at our manufacturing locations in Iowa as well as our other manufacturing locations across the U.S.”

This venture is an expansion as Pella has previously focused most of its efforts on sales in the U.S. and elsewhere across North America.

“We have a significant distribution in Canada,” Krafka Harkema says. “We also distribute products in Mexico and we offer our products in select countries overseas through independent distributors as well, but this marks the first time that Pella windows and doors will be sold in India through an independent distributor.”

She says India has great potential for the company’s products. “New Pella windows and doors not only can help the people of India save energy by adding peace of mind, they can also add peace and quiet,” Krafka Harkema says. “New double- or triple-pane Pella windows and doors also do a good job in helping seal out the sounds of the busy cities of India.”

Pella is in its 87th year.
