Scott County sex offender dies in prison

A man who was serving time for violating the sex offender registry has died in prison. Paul Blakey Jr. died Monday of melanoma.

The 53-year-old inmate was in the prison hospice program at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. Blakey started serving an up to five year prison sentence in March 2011 after being convicted in Scott County for violating terms of the law regarding registration by sex offenders.
