Would be Sioux City robber foiled by store patrons

September 27, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A holdup attempt at a Sioux City convenience store did not go well for the alleged robber. Police says a man armed with a hammer entered the Kum and Go convenience store around 1:30 A.M. today and demanded money.

Customers entering the store during the attempted robbery intervened and subdued the suspect, holding him until police arrived. Forty-two-year old Shanon Ivory of Sioux City is charged with first-dgree robbery and two counts of felony assault. Ivory is being held in the Woodbury County jail on a $35,000 bond.

Police are investigating if there is a connection between this robbery and other recent holdups in the city.
