Southeast Iowa men sentenced on drug charges

October 19, 2012 By O. Kay Henderson

Two southeast Iowa men will spend significant time in federal prison on drug charges. Two men from Washington, Iowa, had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine.

This week 58-year-old Timothy Kukowski was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Fifty-year-old David Jay Butterbaugh will spend 17 and a half years in prison. According to prosecutors, the two made the meth at Butterbaugh’s house.

The judge who sentenced the two men said their meth-making had created “a substantial risk of harm to human life and the environment — and the sentences imposed reflect that risk.”
