Ogden man admits to killing wife during fight

October 22, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Joshua Powell

A 28-year-old Ogden man is in the Boone County Jail facing a charge of first-degree murder. Josh Andrew Powell was arrested by Ogden Police Sunday morning after he placed a 911 call to the Boone County Communications Center stating his wife was deceased inside their residence.

When police arrived they entered and found the body of 25-year-old Jacalyn Powell. Court records show Josh Powell admitted he and his wife had an altercation on Saturday night inside the residence.

Powell said that during the fight, he intentionally struck Jaclyn Powell resulting in her death.

Bond for Josh Powell was set at $2 million. An autopsy of Jacalyn Powell will be performed today by the State Medical Examiner’s office in Ankeny.
