A 64-year-old Marshalltown woman is being removed from her job at a high school after it was revealed she played a role in a murder — 47 years ago. The BCLUW School Board fired teacher’s aide Paula Pace at its meeting Tuesday night.

Superintendent Ben Petty says Pace was fired because she provided false information on her job application. She had been employed for 14 years by the school district.

Last week, Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning received a call concerning Pace and her voluntary manslaughter conviction in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1965. As Paula Baniszewski, she was convicted of manslaughter in connection with the death of Sylvia Likens.

She served time and was paroled. She currently faces no criminal charges.
