Funeral set for Shenandoah soldier

November 13, 2012 By Dar Danielson

Services are set for a soldier from western Iowa who was killed while on duty in Afghanistan. An uncle of 19-year-old Brandon Buttry of Shenandoah said the Army told them that Buttry was killed November fifth while he was in a guard tower in Afghanistan, but said they did not have many other details about his death.

Visitation for Buttry is scheduled for Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shenandoah. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Buttry had enlisted in the Army in January and deployed to Afghanistan in August. He is survived by his parents and eight sisters and five brothers.
