Police in Cedar Rapids investigate two deaths

December 10, 2012 By O. Kay Henderson

Cedar Rapids police are investigating two weekend deaths. Authorities have charged a 44-year-old Cedar Rapids man with first degree murder for killing his 68-year-old mother.

Police were called to the home the two shared shortly after 11 o’clock Friday night and cops found the woman dead inside. Edward Cusic was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators haven’t revealed how his mother was killed.

On Saturday morning, a hunter in the Cedar Rapids area found a man’s body under a bridge in Squaw Creek. Officials haven’t identified the man, but say he was white and middle-aged — and police have classified that death as suspicious.
