Three die in Jefferrson County accident

December 13, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Three people were killed in a one-vehicle crash last night in southeast Iowa. The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. on Old Highway 34 just west of Fairfield in Jefferson County.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol indicates 23-year-old Martin Durflinger of Ottumwa was driving a Chevy Camaro “at a high rate of speed” and lost control at a curve in the roadway. The car struck a light pole, rolled several times and came to rest in the ditch. Durflinger and two passengers were killed in the crash.

The other victims are identified as 23-year-old Robbie Abel of Hedrick and 21-year-old Harry Blodgett of Brighton. The crash remains under investigation.
