Hawkeyes drop Big Ten opener to Indiana

January 1, 2013 By Todd Kimm

Cold shooting plagued the Iowa Hawkeyes as they dropped their Big Ten opener 69-65 to fifth ranked Indiana. Iowa shot only 33 percent for the game and made only three of 17 from three point range. The Hawks roared back from a ten point deficit in the second half to get within one on a couple of occasions but could never take the lead.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says they have to be able to recognize when to shoot and when to pull it out, and he says they went for the home run shot a couple of times and didn’t make it. He says they will learn from that.

Aaron White led Iowa with 15 points, Roy Devyn Marble added 14 and freshman guard Mike Gessell chipped in with 13.

Iowa is now 11-3.
