AAA’s top rating awarded to three Iowa hotels

January 26, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Three Iowa hotels are being honored by a national motor club by making the Four Diamond List for 2013. Gail Weinholzer, spokeswoman for AAA-Iowa, says it’s a rare designation.

“Less than 4% of all hotels in the entire country have received that rating and there are three in Iowa,” Weinholzer says. “They are The Hotel at Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids, The Ameristar Hotel/Casino in Council Bluffs and The Hotel Blackhawk in Davenport.”

Weinholzer says the hotels have to jump through a series of high hoops to compete for the honor.

“They have to go through an application process and a review process that’s quite thorough,” Weinholzer says. The motor club reviews some 1,200 hotels every week nationwide. She says excellent customer service is one of the top qualifiers. Weinholzer says the owners of the three hotels should be proud of the special recognition.

“It’s wonderful recognition for them and their staffs for the hard work they’ve put into their facilities,” she says. Learn more about the Four Diamond List at www.aaa.com.
