Drake loses second half lead and game to Missouri State

January 28, 2013 By Todd Kimm

Drake squandered a 10 point second half lead in a 78-72 loss at Missouri State. The Bears used a 15-2 run in the second half to take the lead for good as they shot 71 percent in the second half.

Drake coach Mark Phelps on his postgame show on KRNT in Des Moines says they couldn’t keep the dribble-drive in front of them. He says that’s disappointing and a tough way to lose as they built a lead and then couldn’t stop Missouri State when the drove the ball.

Phelps says the Bulldogs played well enough on offense to get the win. He says they shot 55%, but could not stop the Bears and that was the story of the game.

Ben Simons led Drake with 19 points as they fall to 3-5 in the Valley and 9-10 overall.
