Hoiberg wants Cyclones to concentrate on the simple plays

February 11, 2013 By Todd Kimm

Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg wants the Cyclones to focus on making the simple plays as they prepare for Wednesday’s visit to Texas. The Cyclones committed 20 turnovers in Saturday’s loss at Kansas State and Hoiberg says many of them came from the Cyclones making risky plays.

“That’s what we’ve done a really solid job on for most of the season,” Hoiberg says. He says when they played at Oklahoma State and Kansas, they had too many turnovers and lost those games.

Hoiberg says the Cyclones will go back and study the film of the Kansas State game. He says he’s pulled plays of simple plays where they made baskets, and also those where they tried for the big play and it backfired on them.

Iowa State is 6-4 in the league race and 16-7 overall.
