Davenport police investigating body found in Mississippi River

February 12, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A body was found this morning in the Mississippi River along the Davenport riverfront. Police say the decomposing body is that of a 40- to 50-year-old man who was not carrying identification.

The body was spotted by a jogger near an east Davenport yacht club. Fire rescue boats from both Davenport and Bettendorf responded.

Rescuers pulled the body to shore. Police say there was no evidence of trauma so they don’t suspect foul play, but an autopsy is planned.
