Pilot dies from injuries suffered in December crash

February 12, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The pilot of the plane that crashed near Correctionville in December has died. Seventy-year-old Gaylen Knaack of Correctionville died Monday at a Lincoln hospital.

Knaack was seriously injured as a result of that plane crash and had been in the hospital ever since the accident. There was heavy fog the evening of the plane crash and National Transportation Safety Board officials ruled the small plane had struck some trees about a half mile from the grass runway.

Two passengers died as a result of the plane crash. They were Lee Schroeder of Anthon and James Smith of Correctionville.
