Driver dies, child injured following high speed chase in central Iowa

February 15, 2013 By Dar Danielson

Police in the Des Moines suburb of Clive say the driver of a car involved in a high-speed chase died after crashing into a patrol car in Indianola early this morning.

The Clive report says the officer was unable to run the plate on the car as it was partially covered, and when the officer attempted to pull the car over, the driver took off and the chase hit speeds of over 100 miles an hour.

The chase continued for some 20 minutes ended after the car in the chase went over stop sticks and hit the empty Indianola patrol car. Officers found a child in the car who was injured in the accident.

The driver’s identity has not been released.
