Iowa State women upset by West Virginia

February 18, 2013 By Todd Kimm

The 24th ranked Iowa State women squandered a 12 point first half lead in a stunning 68-66 loss to West Virginia in Ames. The Cyclones gave up 46 points in the second half as their four game winning streak came to an end.

Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly says there are things he could analyze all day in losing a two point game, but he says there were some things they did not do well like matching up on defense, and made some poor decisions.

Hallie Christopherson had 27 points to lead the Cyclones who fall to 9-5 in the Big-12. Fennelly says the loss puts them in a tough spot in the standings and there are mistakes they continue to make and things they needed to do, but couldn’t get them done.

Iowa State is 18-6 overall.
