February 26, 2013 By Todd Kimm

Maquoketa Valley drained its first nine shots of the game as the Wildcats upended third ranked IKM-Manning 65-57 in a class 2A quarterfinal. Maquoketa Valley coach Scott Moenck says good defense was also a keyalong with their hot shooting.

The Wildcats limited IKM-Manning to 29-percent shooting in the opening half. The Wildcats cooled off a little bit after their hot start but they finished the game by hitting 54 percent from the floor and they made good on 34 of 45 free throws.

The loss was only the second of the season for the Wolves who finish with a record of 23-2.
