Weather leads to accidents on I-80

February 27, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Snowflakes have been flying, off and on, for a full day in parts of Iowa and plows are struggling to keep up with the mounting piles of snow. Interstate 80 was blocked twice this morning by two separate crashes, most recently in Jasper County.

State Trooper Doug Cutts explains what happened. “Over at the 179 (mile marker), at the Linville exit, we have a semi on its side blocking the westbound lanes,” Cutts says.

“We do have injuries with that crash.” That wreckage has been cleared away. Another earlier crash involving a semi-truck blocked I-80 in both directions in Dallas County.
