Iowa looks for third win against Northwestern at Big 10 Tourney

March 14, 2013 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeyes open the Big Ten Tournament this evening in Chicago when they take on Northwestern. The Hawkeyes are the sixth seed after winning six of their final eight games to close the regular season and take on a Wildcat team that has lost eight straight games dating back to a February ninth loss to the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Northwestern has not won since losing senior forward Jared Swopshire to a knee injury but Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says they have played better the last couple of weeks. Iowa won both regular season matchups but McCaffery says they have done far more than just review tape of those games to get ready.

Wildcat freshman Kale Abrahamson is a product of West Des Moines Valley High School. He has averaged 10 points in the last three games.

Tip off in the United Center is eight o’clock.
