Cedar Falls store clerk shoots himself in the hand

March 19, 2013 By Matt Kelley

CF-PD-logoPolice in Cedar Falls are investigating a shooting at a convenience store last night. Officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. to B & B West on the report of a person who had accidentally shot himself.

The convenience store is located on Hudson Road just south of the University of Northern Iowa campus. The victim, 22-year-old Jeffrey Fox, is an employee of the store. He told officers he shot himself in the hand while removing a handgun from his pants.

Fox was eventually transported to University Hospitals in Iowa City. Police say there were no customers in the store at the time of the shooting and all evidence indicates it was an accident.
