Nebraska man dies in Shelby County accident

April 1, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A man from southeast Nebraska died early Saturday morning during a single-vehicle accident in western Iowa’s Shelby County.

Sheriff’s officials say the body of 21-year old Tanner Merz, of Falls City, Nebraksa, was found behind the wheel of car that overturned just south of Irwin, at around 2:45 a.m., Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation determined Merz had been traveling north on Shelby County Road M-47, when the 2003 Ford Taurus he was driving went into the north ditch and came to rest on its top. The accident remains under investigation.
