Belmond man dies in Franklin County accident

April 22, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A 33-year-old Belmond man was killed in a crash early Sunday on a rural Franklin County road. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Jose Luis Martinez.

Reportedly, a westbound 2005 Dodge pickup truck driven by Martinez crossed the center line, striking a bridge guard rail and crossed the center line again.

The Martinez pickup entered the westbound ditch, rolled multiple times and ended up in a farm field. Martinez was ejected from his truck. He died of his injuries at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
