Governor approves disaster declarations for 3 more eastern Iowa counties

April 23, 2013 By Dar Danielson

Governor Terry Branstad has added disaster declarations for three additional counties in eastern Iowa for last week’s flooding. Residents of Iowa, Lee and Muscatine counties are now able to apply for state grants to help with flood recovery.

The governor issued disaster declarations last week for Cedar, Johnson, Mahaska, Scott and Washington counties. The disaster declaration makes residents in the county eligible for the Iowa Individual Assistance Program, which provides grants up to $5,000 for households.

Eligibility for the personal grants is based on family income. You can find out about the grants on the Iowa Department of Human Services website at: www.dhs.iowa.gov.
