Seth Techel retrial moved to Henry County

April 30, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The second trial for Seth Techel, who’s accused in the death of his pregnant wife, will be held in another county in southeast Iowa. During a hearing on Monday, District Court Judge Dan Wilson ruled the new trial be held on August 12 at the Henry County courthouse in Mt. Pleasant.

The change of venue is due to extensive media coverage. Last month, a Wapello County jury was unable to reach a verdict after hearing testimony over a three week period.

Techel is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his pregnant wife, Lisa, at their rural Agency home. Techel remains in the Monroe County jail in Albia.
