Mason City has “Caddyshack” moment with lawnmower chase of gopher

June 12, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

It may have looked like a scene from the movie “Caddyshack” Tuesday morning in one Mason City neighborhood. Mason City police say they’ve told a man who said he was using his lawn mower to chase a gopher to stay home.

Police say an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of South Monroe to check a report that a man was damaging his neighbors’ lawns. The man was spotted outside his home, where he told officers he’d deployed his lawn mower in the pursuit of the pesky gopher.

The officer told the man to stay inside his own home until he sobered up.
