Bride injured as wedding reception in Dewitt turns into brawl

June 24, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A weekend wedding reception in eastern Iowa erupted into a fight that left three people hurt — including the bride. The reception was at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in DeWitt when police reported a fight broke out and in the confusion, guests tried to leave, when a car hit two people – one of them the bride. There are reports three people were injured, one from the fight and two from the car accident.

Authorities say the three injured were taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City. No word on their conditions. Police arrested Michael Postell of Dewitt, charging him with public intoxication and serious assault in connection with the fight. Police say he was a guest at that wedding reception.

At this point, police say there are no additional charges are pending in this case.
