Bikers to try for fake moustache record

July 19, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Participants in the annual bicycle ride across Iowa will have a chance to make a bit of history next week. As riders get set to kick off the 41st RAGBRAI on Sunday, organizers of the overnight stay in Fairfield are making plans for a RAGBRAI first.

Riders will have the opportunity to take part in a world record attempt. Next Friday, they’ll gather at the Jefferson County Courthouse lawn to try and set the record for most people in one area wearing fake moustaches. The current record is held by a community in Michigan at just over 1,500.

Fairfield organizers are planning for more than 4,000 people to don the fake lip hair for more than five minutes to establish the new world record.
