Ex-deputy accused of abusing teen during “ride-along”

July 30, 2013 By O. Kay Henderson

A former northwest Iowa deputy sheriff is charged with having “inappropriate…contact” with a 15-year-old female during a “ride-along” in his squad car.

Thirty-five-year-old Christopher Wayne Lincecum has been charged with third degree sexual abuse, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if he’s found guilty.

Lincecum was a deputy in the Lyon County Sheriff’s office. A state agent who interviewed the deputy, the 15-year-old female and “several other witnesses” concluded “the victim went on a ride-along with Lincecum” twice and on one of those occasions Lincecum “had inappropriate sexual contact” with the teenager.

According to information released by the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Lincecum’s employment with the Lyon County Sheriff’s office ended this spring “due to an unrelated matter.”
