2012 Iowa Caucus winner Rick Santorum urged a crowd of conservative Christian activists in Ames today to commit to changing the culture. Santorum is the CEO of a Dallas-based company organized to make “faith and family” films.

“Don’t agree with the ‘Establishment’ Republicans that we have to change our policies to be more like Democrats, but we do need to change our tactics to be more like they are,” Santorum said, to applause.

According to Santorum, the “far left” are the predominant “story-tellers” in Hollywood because they worker “harder” than conservatives at influencing popular culture.

“Who tells the stories to your children and to you in America — people like you?…Who’s raising your children?” Santorum asked the crowd at the day-long Family Leadership Summit.

A woman responded: “That’s right.”

Santorum continued: “Who’s creating the moral imagination for the future of our country?”

Santorum said Christian conservatives cannot “win the country back politically” as long as Christians are “passive” and allow themselves to be portrayed in the media as “weird.”

“Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to be able to have our voice heard in the last election and now it’s back on you,” Santorum told the crowd near the end of his 20-minute speech. “Now it’s time for you to let our voices be heard and to save America.”

Stephen Baldwin, a Hollywood actor who is a born-again Christian, was one of the first speakers at today’s summit. He told the crowd they are “critically important” in changing the culture.

“The bottom line is as individuals if we do the very best that we can…each and every day to be unafraid to stand up for our faith, then that change is going to start to happen,” Baldwin said.

Senator Chuck Grassley ended his remarks to the crowd with a call to “challenge” what he called the “post-modern culture.”

“Truth is truth, even if no one believes it. Falsehood is falsehood even if everybody believes it, so we must ask questions. We must confront,” Grassley said, as he was repeatedly interrupted by applause.
