Police in Cedar Rapids have made an arrest in a 14 year old murder case, and two arrests in a case from earlier this summer. Police say 34-year-old Deshaun Phillips was arrested in Minnesota on Friday.

He’s charged with first-degree murder for the April 1999 death of 44-year-old Judith Weeks in Cedar Rapids. Investigators are not saying exactly what led them to break the case.

A news release indicates “the case was thoroughly investigated at the time of the offense, but there was insufficient evidence to file charges.” But recently, investigators were specifically assigned to the case and developed new information regarding Phillips that resulted in the filing of the charges.

Weeks’ body was found behind an apartment building on Cedar Rapids’ southeast side on April 5, 1999. Police said she died from multiple injuries.

Cedar Rapids Police have also made two arrests in connection with a homicide case from earlier this summer. Investigators say 19-year-old D Anthony Ray Curd and 15-year-old Daimonay Richardson are accused in the June 10 stabbing death of 22-year-old Ronald Kunkle. Both Curd and Richardson have been charged with first-degree murder.
