Forty students from a northern Iowa school district were treated at a hospital and released Thursday after their school bus was sprayed by a crop duster. Belmond-Klemme school officials say the bus was picking up students yesterday morning near Klemme when the crop duster flew over and sprayed the bus.

The windows on the bus were open at the time. There were 8 students were on the bus at the time of the spraying, but the driver continued to pick up additional students. Once the bus got to school, the driver contacted the school’s transportation director.

All the students and the driver were taken to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond where they were treated and released. Hancock County authorities have not released any details about their investigation into the incident but say their investigation continues.
