Football player still missing after gun was found in his bag

September 6, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Arrest warrants are being issued for a high school football player from Waterloo. Eighteen-year-old Mar’yo Lindsay is wanted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff after a gun was found in his gym bag following a high school football game last week.

Lindsay lives in Waterloo but open-enrolls to Dunkerton High School, where he’s a member of the football team. Following Dunkerton’s game at Riceville last Friday, a member of Dunkerton’s coaching staff discovered a gun in Lindsay’s gym bag after hearing a “clunking sound” in the bag.

Lindsay had been injured in the game and was taken to the hospital. Deputies and school officials have not been able to locate him since the gun was found. Charges against Lindsay include being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying weapons on school grounds, and possession of marijuana.

Because Lindsay is still at large, Dunkerton Schools have instituted their “secure situation” policy, meaning that no students can leave school grounds during classroom hours.
