Two of the teams expected to contend in the Great Plains Athletic Conference race collide this weekend when 13th ranked Northwestern College visits 20th rated Doane.

Northwestern coach Kyle Achterhoff says they are a solid ballclub and it’s a tough place to play. The Red Raiders opened with a 55-37 win over Bacone College of Oklahoma and take on a Doane squad that is coming off an overtime loss in its opener. “This is a team that runs really well defensively they have a lot of speed on the field, they swarm to the ball,” Achterhoff says.

Achterhoff says Doane is a tough place for a road team to win because they have a great atmosphere and their fans get into the game.

He says it’s a fun place to play if you are doing well, but not if you struggle.
