A Creston company is closing its doors after 103 years of operation. GITS Manufacturing told its Creston employees earlier this week it’s shutting down production there and moving production to other Actuant factories.

The company has plants in Urbandale and China. A total of 95 employees will be affected, with 15 being moved to the Urbandale facility. The other 80 jobs will be phased out.

Job reductions will start in November, with the plant officially closing on June 30th, 2014. GITS opened the Creston plant in 1910. The company manufactures diesel engines, turbo chargers, mobile IBCs, pumps, gearboxes and other equipment.
